CONVERSATIONAL SKILLS:
Are essential components of pragmatics and they include:
- Initiating conversation with others
- Turn taking; exchanging turns with the conversational partner
- Inference; understanding indirectly-stated information
- Prediction; expecting forthcoming events & statements
- Providing necessary details whenever necessary
- Relevantly correcting others' errors (when needed) without embarrassing them
- Asking for clarification when necessary
- Maintaining discussed topic with conversational partners
